Double-Glazed Glass Partitions, UK-Wide
A double-glazed glass partition uses two panes with a sealed cavity between them, instead of a single sheet of glass — the same principle as an external double-glazed window, applied to an internal wall. The cavity is what does the work: it's where sound insulation, cable routing, and internal louvers all become possible. Weldholm's WH-80 OFFICE system is built this way.
Single glazing vs. double glazing on an internal wall
| Property | Single glazing (e.g. WH-EXPO, WH-45) | Double glazing (WH-80 OFFICE) |
|---|---|---|
| Sound insulation | Lower | Up to 50dB, depending on infill |
| Cable / power routing | Not possible | Routed inside the cavity, standard sockets supported |
| Internal louvers / blinds | Not built in | Can be incorporated between panes |
Where double-glazed partitions get specified
Anywhere the wall has to do more than divide the room:
- Private offices and meeting rooms needing real acoustic separation
- Reconfigurable open-plan layouts that need power without surface-mounted trunking
- Spaces that need internal blinds or louvers without extra hardware
- Any office wall doing double duty as sound barrier and cable route
Built to be reconfigured, not just installed
WH-80 OFFICE takes transparent or obscure infill, can incorporate internal louvers, and has room inside the wall for electrical runs and standard power sockets — so a partition doesn't mean giving up outlets or blinds. The same construction adapts to reconfigured office layouts without a full rebuild, and on-site execution stays simple even as the floor plan changes around it.

Double-glazed partitioning, asked and answered
What's the difference between single and double-glazed partitions?
Single-glazed uses one structural pane per section (like WH-EXPO or WH-45); double-glazed uses two panes with a sealed cavity between them (like WH-80 OFFICE), which is what allows sound insulation, cable routing, and internal blinds that a single pane can't support.
How much sound insulation does a double-glazed partition give?
Up to 50dB, depending on the infill chosen — WH-80 OFFICE takes glass panes (4–14mm), furniture board (16–18mm), or gypsum plasterboard, each with different acoustic performance.
Can power and cabling run inside a double-glazed partition?
Yes — WH-80 OFFICE routes cables inside the wall cavity and supports standard power socket installation, so a partition doesn't mean losing outlets.
What wall depths are available?
Two options: 80mm or 92mm.
