Glass partition cost UK: what office fit-outs pay per m² in 2026

Framed glass office partitions at a reception mezzanine

Quick answer: most UK office glass partitions cost somewhere between £275 and £700 per m² installed. Where a job lands in that range depends on the glazing (single, double or acoustic), fire rating, the number of doors and the site. Weldholm publishes its materials rates up front: £397/m² ex VAT for standard framed partitions and £557/m² ex VAT for the acoustic build-up, with installation quoted separately from your floor plan.

Why glass partition quotes vary so much

Two quotes for the same office can be thousands of pounds apart and both be fair. Usually it comes down to three things.

Supply-only or supply-and-install. Some prices cover the partition system only. Others include fitting, and some fold in site costs too. A £400/m² materials price and a £400/m² installed price are very different offers.

Per m² or per linear metre. Some suppliers price by the square metre of glazed wall, others by the linear metre of run. On a standard 2.7m ceiling, one linear metre of partition is 2.7m² of wall. So £450 per linear metre works out at about £167/m², and £1,000 per linear metre at about £370/m².

What's inside the number. Doors, hardware, manifestation (the marking on the glass), acoustic seals and fire-rated glass can all be in the base price or added on top. Always check what the headline figure includes.

What the UK market charges in 2026

Published prices are rare in this industry, but a few suppliers do share them:

What pushes the price up or down

Glazing build-up. Single glazed is the cheapest. Double glazed and acoustic build-ups cost more because there is more glass, more seals and a heavier frame. Our Acoustic Premium band uses the same spec behind WH-80 OFFICE, which reaches up to 50dB of noise reduction.

Fire rating. Glass that has to hold a fire compartment line (EI30 or EI60) is a different product from standard toughened glass, and it's priced that way. If your drawings cross a compartment line, say so at the start. See our fire-rated glass partitions.

Doors. A door is usually the most expensive single element in a run. The leaf type, locks, closers and any access control all add cost, so count them before you compare quotes.

Height and module size. Taller walls need bigger panes or more of them, and oversized glass costs more to make, move and lift into place.

Site and install conditions. Upper floors without a goods lift, out-of-hours working, tight access or a live office around the work all add to installation time. This is why we quote installation once we've seen the floor plan and site access, not as a blanket rate.

A worked example using our published rates

A 10m run of standard framed partition at 2.7m high is 27m² of glazed wall:

  • Materials at the Signature rate: 27m² × £397 = £10,719 (ex VAT)
  • The same run in the acoustic build-up: 27m² × £557 = £15,039 (ex VAT)

Doors, installation and anything non-standard come on top, confirmed in the written quote. Treat this as a way to sanity-check a budget, not a final price.

How to get an accurate price quickly

Send us these five things and we'll come back with an itemised price:

  1. The floor plan or a marked-up drawing, with the partition runs shown
  2. Ceiling height at each run
  3. How many doors, and whether any need locks or access control
  4. Which rooms need acoustic privacy (meeting rooms, HR, phone booths)
  5. Whether any run sits on a fire compartment line

We price from your drawings the same working day, or we take £250 off the job.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a glass office partition cost per m² in the UK?

Most UK projects land between £275 and £700 per m² installed, depending on the glazing, fire rating, doors and site conditions. Weldholm's materials rates are £397/m² (standard) and £557/m² (acoustic), ex VAT, with installation quoted separately.

Is supply-only cheaper than supply-and-install?

The headline figure is lower, but you still have to pay someone to fit it. Compare like with like: add a realistic installation cost to any supply-only price before comparing it with an installed quote.

Are glass partitions cheaper than plasterboard walls?

Usually not per m². Glass costs more to buy, but it keeps daylight moving through the floor and many systems can be taken down and reused in a future layout, which plasterboard can't.
